The new Furniture Saver Screen displayed herein relates generally to devices that protect furniture and, more specifically, to furniture saver panels positioned on the exterior of a furniture piece to be protected from pets clawing and chewing on the furniture having base supports and channeled panels for varying the dimensions of the furniture area covered. The furniture saver panels have fasteners whereby a plurality of panels can be pivotally linked to cover corners and longer lengths of furniture.
The new Furniture Saver Cover also displayed herein relates generally to furniture covering and, more specifically, to a protective cover for furniture from pet hair, dander and dirt. The cover is contained within a housing in a rolled state so that it can be easily extended and retracted as desired. Furthermore, the cover has at least one transverse pocket within the body of the cover containing a rigid member that can be tucked between the seat and back rest to keep the cover taut and prevent casual displacement during use. Also provided is a weighted leading edge that will keep the cover taut on the seat and front of the furniture.

Furniture Saver Screens:
"I have had many cats and decided to declaw 3 of them. What a horrible thing to do! But, they were ruining my furniture, especially at the corners. I tried everything - squirting with water, attaching tape, putting large items in front of the corners (looked terrible), buying several scratching posts (expensive, ineffective, and brought the cats TO the furniture). Nothing worked. So I declawed. But there is a way to keep a cat's claws and protect the furniture. I found that covering the corners with my screens not only keeps the cats away, but are actually nice to look at and sturdy because of the removable feet to balance them. Plus, the screens expand upward depending on the size of the furniture and can attach to each other if a longer area needs protection.
My neighbor's dog, a Bernese Mountain Dog, decided to go to town chewing her wall molding and the wood on the deck. My dog, Elmer, chewed the molding around a bay window that had a seat in front of it. My screens keep the dogs away, are freestanding and then fold up to be put away if company comes over.
The screens can also be put at the bottom or top of staircases to keep your pets where you want them. If your cats are climbing window screens, they can be positioned on the windowsill or in front of the open patio door."
Furniture Saver Covers:
"How many loads of wash have you done over the years for blankets or couch and loveseat covers because your pet slept, spit up or jumped on the furniture? It's destructive to the washing machine, dryer, furniture and it's a waste of time. You have to shake everything out, get hair all over you and use additional water and electricity to run the washer and dryer. My furniture saver covers save time. They are easy to clean and keep the pet hair out of your appliances. Plus, the material can actually repel the animals desire to stay on the furniture."

| FIGURE 1 FIGURE 1 is an illustrative view of prior art 28. Owners of cats 20 and other clawed animals know from experience that their clawed pets (especially cats) sharpen their claws by scratching them on any object available, usually a corner of furniture 18, resulting in damage from the scratch marks 22 to the furniture. Additionally dogs 24 can be just as destructive in the chewing of walls 26, molding and furnishings the present invention over comes this problem by providing a freestanding selectively placeable screen device for protecting furniture from pet damage such as clawing, scratching or chewing. When not in use the present invention may also fold flat for storage.

| FIGURE 1 FIGURE 1 is an illustrative view of the present invention 10 in use. The present invention is a protective cover apparatus 10 for furniture from pet hair, dander and dirt. The cover apparatus has a flexible sheet 12is contained within a housing 14 in a rolled state so that it can be easily extended and retracted as desired. Furthermore, the cover has at least one transverse pocket within the body of the cover containing a rigid member that can be tucked between the seat and back rest to keep the cover taut and prevent casual displacement during use. Also provided is a weighted leading edge 16 that will keep the cover taut on the seat and front of the furniture. Shown is the user 24 on a protected couch 26 with a cat 28 and a dog 30.

 |
| FIGURE 2 FIGURE 2 is a top view of the furniture protector of the present invention. Shown is a top view of the furniture saver cover 10 extended. The furniture saver cover is similar to a roll-up shade that would drape over furniture from the floor in the back to the floor in the front, having a weighted leading edge 16 and the weight of the housing 14 at the rear edge to hold it in place and a centrally disposed transverse pocket 18 that would enable another rigid member 20 to be inserted and once inserted tucked into the space at the back of the cushions to hold it in place. An actuator 22 is associated with the housing 14 to retract the cover back into the housing when desired. The cover material can be made of canvas 32 to prevent pet hair from clinging to the cover and therefore easily cleaned.
