The present invention presents an IV tube retaining strap comprising an elongate, flexible sheet having mating hook and loop fasteners disposed on opposing ends. The retaining strap can be manufactured of cotton or a hypoallergenic, disposable and breathable material that eliminates the damaging effect on adjacent skin areas which occurs with the repeated use of adhesive tapes. Also eliminated is the painful process of applying and removing tapes to secure IV tubes. The body of the strap can be manufactured in various colors and designs providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance to the user.

Objects of the present invention:

  • to provide a strap for selectively maintaining the positioning of IV tubes

  • to provide an IV strap that doesn't adhesively bond to a user's skin

  • to provide an IV strap that has an elastic adhesive element for engaging the IV tube(s)

  • to provide an IV strap that is hypoallergenic

  • to provide an IV strap that can be manufactured in assorted colors and patterns

  • to provide an IV strap that is disposable or reuseable after a wash

  • to provide an IV strap comprised of a strip of material having mating fastening means on each distal end

  • to provide an IV strap that is simple and easy to use
